JUNE 2003
June 1st 2003:
- All the e-Card scans of Pokémon-e Skyridge have been added
to the e-Card Catalog.
- All the cards of Animal Crossing-e Series 4 have been added to the
catalog as well (the e-Card scans will be added ASAP). I also made some minor
changes to the catalog regarding promotional e-Cards.
- The Animal Crossing-e Series 4 checklist is now complete, and you
will (of course) find it in the Checklists section. I'd like to use this
opportunity to thank everyone who helped me collect the data for this
particular checklist! :-)
- According to EBGames.com,
the Game & Watch series of e-Cards will be released on October 7th 2003
(thanks for the info, Greg). Gosh, I hope they're wrong, because I certainly
don't want to wait that long! :-(
- Every day between June 9th and June 18th, the Pokémon
TCG web site will display one new card of the new series of
Pokémon-e TCG EX - Ruby & Sapphire e-Cards. Allow me to remind
you that June 18th is the official release date of this new series of
Pokémon-e cards distributed by Nintendo (instead of Wizards of the
Coast).
- The news items for May have been moved to the News Archive section.
June 7th 2003:
- All the e-Card scans of Animal Crossing-e Series 4 have been added
to the e-Card Catalog.
- I also added the "Kyogre ex" promotional Pokémon-e card to
the catalog. This e-Card, which is tied to the Pokémon-e TCG EX
Ruby & Sapphire series, can be found in the July issue of Scrye
magazine presently on newsstands. (Drop by Pokémon
Labs if you want to see a high-resolution picture of this card.)
June 21st 2003:
- Earlier this week, the new Pokémon-e TCG EX Ruby & Sapphire
series made its retail debut, and the official
Pokémon-e TCG web site has also been updated with brand new
content, including checklists for the new series in HTML and PDF format.
There are still some unfinished areas, but the web site looks pretty cool
overall. I've decided to wait a little while before adding my own checklist
to the Checklists section, because I'm not sure which cards have e-Reader
data strips and which ones don't. I'll probably have this info next week, in
time for the next site update. Until then, just go to the official site and
download the full checklist.
- There's a particular piece
of news on the Pokémon-e TCG web site which I'd like to report here:
Two new promotional e-Cards will be included with the next issue of Nintendo
Power magazine (#170)! The first is the "Kyogre ex (001)" card (which was
already available with the July issue of Scrye magazine, as reported
two weeks ago) and the other is the "Groudon ex (002)" card! Furthermore, this
same "Groudon" promo card will be packed with the August issue of Scrye
magazine. Good news indeed! :-)
- Want some more Pokémon e-Card news? The Battle-e cards
(designed to unlock stuff in the Pokémon Ruby and
Pokémon Sapphire GBA games) will be released on June 27th in
Japan. There are 54 cards in the series, including 6 "Berry" cards. You can
read all about it by clicking here
and here.
(Can't read japanese? Click here
and here
for a partial translation). There's a very high probability that these same
cards will be released here in the US, so I sent some e-mail to Nintendo about
this, and this is the answer I got from a Nintendo representative:
"According to my sources, additional Pokémon Battle-e cards will
be available around September. When we get more up-to-date release information,
we'll make sure to post it on our website at www.nintendo.com or a future
issue of Nintendo Power."
Cool news indeed, but since it's not exactly official news yet, I'm going to
wait before adding the Battle-e cards to the Future Releases
section.
- I would like to use this opportunity to make a special announcement:
I'll be hosting a new game design contest starting on July 1st 2003! If you
thought the NES Game Design Contest was too complex and/or too
demanding, you'll be happy to know that this new game design contest will be
much easier to understand, should require less work, and should interest
participants of all ages! Intrigued? Come back on July 1st for all the
details! ;-)
